If you've had your eye on the Pennine Barrel but felt like the 6 person size was more than your garden could handle, we've got some good news. The Pennine Barrel is now available in a 4 person version too, with all the same traditional sauna experience in a size that fits a few more gardens.
We've also introduced something new across the range this month: Treatex exterior wood finishes, so for the first time you can choose a colour that actually suits your garden and your home, not just the standard finish.
Here's everything you need to know.
Why we created a smaller Pennine Barrel
The 6 person Pennine Barrel has been one of our most popular traditional saunas, but it's a genuinely large piece of garden furniture, and not every garden has the room. The 4 person version keeps everything people love about the original, the curved barrel shape, the traditional heat, the classic spa feel, in a footprint that suits a more typical UK garden. It's a good fit for couples, small families, or anyone who wants the full barrel sauna experience without needing the space the 6 person model asks for.
What's inside
Heater and heat
The 4 person Pennine Barrel uses a 6kW Harvia heater, genuine Finnish heating technology, reaching dry heat of around 90 to 100°C, or you can add water to the coals for a traditional steam session.
Materials and features
It's built from spruce with a waterproof roof and a raised base for durability. The curved barrel shape helps heat circulate evenly, and it has a half-moon rear window with warm LED backlighting inside, along with handcrafted benches. It's designed for year-round use, so it's built to handle proper Yorkshire weather.
Installation
This one is hard-wired, so you'll need a qualified electrician and a dedicated circuit. Our Yorkshire-based team will contact you after your order to confirm delivery and talk through installation, and we offer free UK delivery with optional fixed-price professional installation.
Make it yours: Treatex colour customisation
How it works
Until now, our saunas have come in one natural finish. From this launch, you can choose from 9 Treatex exterior wood finishes to personalise the outside of your sauna, so it can tie in with your decking, fencing or garden style rather than standing out for the wrong reasons. The shades available are Sheer, Virgin Oak, Spanish Chestnut, Copper Bay, Seal Brown, Blue Roan, Steel Grey, Smokey Black and Belgian Black.
What it costs
Most shades add £73.30, and Spanish Chestnut adds £83.10. It comes as a 2.5 litre tin, enough for 2 coats, and gives your sauna enhanced weather protection as well as a finish that's properly yours.
Availability
The 4 person Pennine Barrel is available to pre-order now with a deposit, with the first batch expected at our warehouse in November. Getting your order in early means you'll be one of the first to have one installed.
If a 6 person barrel always felt like a bit much for your space (product mention)
The 4 person Pennine Barrel might be exactly what you've been waiting for, now with a colour that's properly yours too.
